one of the major Minor Forest Produce collected by GCC.
It is a tree exudate having wide variety of uses in Food, Pharma
and Ice-cream industries, and exported to US and other European
countries.
In Pharma Industry, as per recommendations of United States Pharmacopia
(USP) and British Pharmacopia (BP), Gum
Sterculia (Gum Karaya) is used as a tablet binder,
disintegrant, suspending agent, film coating agent etc.
Gum Sterculia (Gum Karaya) is also used in confectionery
and in Ice-cream Industry to prevent crystal formation.
